Denver Area Habitat for Humanity

Our church has supported the Denver Area Habitat for Humanity for nearly 30 years through our partnership with the Jeffco Interfaith Partners (JIP). Nine congregations and a Kiwanis Club support our local Habitat in these ways:

  1. Raise money to sponsor the construction costs for building the homes.  The major fundraising  effort is holding the October Pumpkin Patches in Arvada and Lakewood. Volunteers are needed to unload and sell pumpkins through the month of October.  Last year, JIP was able to give $40,000 to Habitat and this year we are on track to give over $50,000.
  2. Volunteer at a build site on one of the dates that our congregation has been assigned.
  3. Donate to the Special Plate Offering that has been designated for Habitat.
  4. Donate to Habitat for Humanity on Colorado Give Day.
  5. Volunteer at Habitat ReStore – a home improvement and donation store.

Habitat is currently building twenty 3-4 bedroom homes in Arvada.  The project name is Griffith Station, and is located at 52nd and Carr.  If you’d like to learn more about upcoming build dates that have been assigned to our congregation, please email Ken or Julie Andrus.

JUC Food & Nourishment Teams

Our F&N teams partner with local non-profit charities, including Earthlinks and the Mission Arvada Day Shelter, to engage in direct community service that provides at risk people with resources and nourishing meals to improve their lives.

The Rising Church in Old Town Arvada provides meals and other resources to people experiencing homelessness at their Mission Arvada Day Shelter. JUC supports their efforts by preparing meals in our JUC kitchen and serving them weekly. Please consider joining a cook team or signing up to serve meals.
