Debby Bower

Trustee

JUC has been the spiritual home for Debby Bower and her family since 2011, when she and her spouse, Shane, were seeking a faith community and expecting their eldest. It's been a fabulous church home for both kids, Myllo and Eric, who've actively taken part in all the goodness offered by our vibrant, social justice-oriented community. In the last five years, Debby has returned to full time work at Jefferson County Public Health and now STRIDE Community Health Center, where she serves as the Patient Experience Coordinator. Prior to these adventures, Debby was active in numerous JUC and regional UU committees and activities, including numerous Going Deeper groups and the coordinative team exploring our Making Room initiative. Having spent formative time on five continents by age 20, Debby loves connecting with people in English, Spanish, a tiny retention of Swahili, and various love languages. Debby firmly believes that we grow what we nourish, interconnected with our planet and our communities, large and small. In her many volunteer efforts, centering the voices of community members, building community power, and ensuring community ownership of change are essential to Debby. Debby is committed to lifelong learning, uplifting each other's stories, and she loves the daily variety, service, and nourishment of actively living our UU values into the world.
