Mystery Week 2: Everyday we have the potential to be kind or mean.

Throughout our abundant lives, we can find simple and quick ways to connect our learning and growth at church to our lives at home. Enjoy listening to a Spotify playlist all month!

At Church

We read the story The Messiah is One of Us and discussed our ability and power to choose to be kind or mean.

Morning Time

Read this guided meditation about choosing kindness.

Drive Time

Did you see anyone choose kindness today? What did you notice? Did you see anyone choose meanness? What did you notice?

Meal Time

Every day we are presented with situations where we get to choose if we will be kind or if we will be mean.  When have you chosen to be kind? When have you chosen to be mean? How did you feel in each of those situations?

Adult family members- this is an opportunity to share honestly about a time when you didn’t choose the route of being kind to help our children understand that it isn’t always easy to be kind.

Bed Time

Read Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids by Carol McCloud. You can discuss how it’s not always easy to choose kindness, but you make an impact either way you choose.

Family Time

Choose someone in your community who could use a little kindness.  Maybe make someone a meal, offer to shovel your neighbors’ sidewalks,  or brainstorm other ideas! If you do, please share your story on the JUC Family Facebook page!

This event simply taps into the power of mystery when we observe space. Watch the Geminids on December 13 (it means staying up late, but check it out!)
