Mystery Week 1: We appreciate the mystery in the everyday

Throughout our abundant lives, we can find simple and quick ways to connect our learning and growth at church to our lives at home.

Enjoy listening to a Spotify playlist all month!

At Church

We read the book I Wonder by Annaka Harris and explored every day mysteries.

Morning Time

Share this quote “We live with some big mysteries. When we come upon one, we are given a little gift. Every mystery is something for us all to wonder about together.  What do you wonder about?” from the book,  I Wonder by Annaka Harris

Or this one…”The sky knows when it’s time to snow. Don’t need to teach a seed to grow. It’s just another ordinary miracle today” from the song Ordinary Miracle by Sarah McLachlan

Drive Time

Listen to Ordinary Miracle by Sarah McLachlan.

Meal Time

There are so many everyday mysteries to explore. During a mealtime, discuss how your food arrived at your table. Where did it come from? Who are the people who made it possible for this everyday miracle of dinner to appear on our table?

Bed Time

Read I Wonder by Annaka Harris This is a reading of the book on Vimeo. It costs $1.99.  Unfortunately this book is not available at the Jefferson County library, so this is a nice option for a 4 minute watch to start your mystery journey!

Family Time

Take a winter night walk, or Sparkle Walk, observing the stars to seek the mystery and wonder of the season. Then, return home, read Henry and Mudge in the Sparkle Days by Cynthia Rylant and share your own wishes. Maybe Sparkle Walks will become a tradition for your family!
