At JUC we have many ways to live and grow in community with one another. Inspired by our values and mission, Adult Faith Exploration opportunities help you to answer the question of what it means to be UU. We offer classes with varying commitment levels, each designed to help each other deepen, connect and engage.

Year-long classes and Spiritual Practice Groups

Circles of Connection

In small groups of 6-8, JUCers explore how to live our beliefs, be in community, and care for each other. Through small group bi-monthly meetings, participants have the chance to deepen, connect and engage on a deep level. Groups meet twice per month from October-May and are facilitated by trained lay leaders.

UU Wellspring Sources

UU Wellspring is a year-long, bi-monthly group focusing on deep connection through the exploration of the UU sources and spiritual practices.

UU Liberal Christians

UU Liberal Christians meet 1st Tuesdays, 7 pm for discussion, book study, and presentations relating to progressive Christianity. The group also gathers in prayer, meditation, wisdom tradition, scripture study, and spiritual practices honoring the traditions of our Christian roots within the larger movement of Unitarian Universalism. Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPS)

Grounded in the theories of inclusive Heathenry, Nordic Animism, BIPOC theories of spiritual activism, Reflections on Race and Unitarian Universalist themes, our CUUPs chapter will be celebrating the New Moon, the time of the month when we choose things we wish to change about ourselves. New Moons are times of reflection and the changes we sow become the rewards we reap at the Full Moon. We welcome everyone, pagan or not, to this series. Contact: Piper Perry

Yoga As You Are

This class meets 2nd & 4th Thursdays, 2-3 pm, and is open to people of all abilities and levels of experience. There will be opportunities for people who aren’t able to get on and off the floor. Contact: Martha Eastman

Mindfulness Meditation

The Mindfulness Meditation group is meets online every Sunday, 5-6:15 pm, to meditate together and discuss a mindfulness-related theme. Contact: Tina Voelker

Shorter length classes

Racial Justice without Shame

In Racial Justice Without Shame, we’ll learn a bit about why it is so difficult to have conversations about race without shame, and we’ll provide a safe space to ask questions and learn foundation-level concepts of anti-oppression work.

Monthly Theme Thing

Each month we will hold a gathering or outing designed to allow members to go deeper into the monthly theme. Many outings are multi-generational and are a great way to meet other JUC folks.

UU Common Read

Join Rev. Wendy in a workshop based around this year’s UU Common Read “On Repentance and Repair” by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg. As relational beings, we need one another. As humans, we relate imperfectly. Few among us were taught how to genuinely apologize or heal a relationship. Certainly, public figures in our culture offer mostly regrettable examples. And yet, most of us have one or more relationships which need work. On Repentance and Repair offers a glimpse into one of our faith’s foundational sources, Judaism. It invites readers to explore practices for accountability that can bring us into wholeness and really make a difference in our personal, community, and national relationships.

Spiritual Practice Series

JUCers explore a spiritual practice that might be new to them or to which they want to commit at a deeper level. JUC members who regularly engage with the practice will share their insights, wisdom and techniques. Practices offered:

  • Meditation (October 30)
  • Writing (November 28)
  • Prayer (February 5)
  • Embodied Spiritual Practice (March 7)
