Barry grew up in Missouri, spent 10 years on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where he became a UU, then moved to Colorado in 1987. He had a previous career in the counseling field, beginning in the addictions field, then expanding to general work with couples, families, experiential therapy groups, and men’s groups, as well as individual counseling. He has also directed community and church choirs (including the JUC Choir from 1989-1995). He was ordained by Columbine UU Church in 2002.
Barry attended schools in Missouri, earning a bachelor of science degree in education from Truman State University and a master’s Missouri University-Columbia. In preparation for ministry, he attended Iliff School of Theology in Denver (1990-92) and graduated with a doctorate in ministry from the University of Creation Spirituality in 2000.
