Elementary-aged Classes

2012-13 Classes and Programs

One of the foundations of our religious education classes is how to create and how to be in community. We teach and model compassion, respect, understanding, peace, and fairness. We learn to listen to each other with our ears and our hearts. We learn to trust that we will be heard and accepted, and therefore learn to comfortably and honestly share what comes deeply from our own hearts. Inevitably these skills transfer to our lives outside of our church walls, allowing our children to help create communities of peace, justice, and compassion wherever they go.

During our time together, we also practice Unitarian Universalist rituals including lighting our chalice, reciting our affirmation in unison, singing hymns, sharing our joys and sorrows, and taking a morning offering. These rituals tie us together and ground us in our common faith, despite our many differences.
